Indonesia struck by magnitude 6.7 quake

A magnitude 6.7 earthquake has hit eastern Indonesia near the Aru islands, the US Geological Survey says.
The quake, which was originally measured at 6.9, struck at a depth of 33 km, 80 km north-northwest of Dobo on the Aru islands on Friday, said the USGS.
The US Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said a destructive widespread tsunami was not likely to be generated by the earthquake, but that there was a small possibility of a local tsunami.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

BEIJING, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake measuring 6.2 jolted the Banda Sea at 7:43 p.m. Monday Beijing Time, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).
The epicenter, with a depth of about 20 km, was at 4.4 degrees south latitude and 129.2 degrees east longitude.
